We are pleased to provide you with an update on the public health issue at UNB Fredericton involving a student who was diagnosed with tuberculosis (TB).
Public Health has reported that an infectious disease specialist in Moncton, who was consulted with on this case, believes that it’s very unlikely that the UNB student who was diagnosed was ever contagious. That said, Public Health is still proceeding with its investigation as a precautionary measure.
The university will continue to work with Public Health during the course of their investigation and is committed to providing updates as they become available.
We would like to remind our UNB community that they can contact the following resources if they have questions or concerns:
- Public Health’s communicable diseases office at 506-444-5905 (during working hours);
- Telecare (811);
- UNB Fredericton’s Student Health Centre at 506-453-4837
