UNB Fredericton’s faculty of education is proud to present Dr. Marcea Ingersoll as part of the Faculty of Education Colloquium Series. In this talk “Tales from the Journey of International Teaching”, Dr. Ingersoll will share research stories about Canadian educators and the journey of international teaching.

The public is invited to UNB Fredericton on Wednesday, Jan. 27 at 7 p.m. for this free lecture. The event takes place in Marshall d’Avray Hall, 10 MacKay Dr., UNB, in room 356.
You will become familiar with dimensions of experience at what some international teachers call education’s best-kept secret—international schools.

Although international schools do not feature significantly in educational research, their impact on the lives of teachers who inhabit their classrooms is significant. Dr. Ingersoll will tell tales of Canadian teachers across the journey of international teaching – from beginning teachers who are considering going overseas to teach and from Canadians whose careers have been spent teaching abroad.

Through their stories, you’ll hear how Canadian teachers come to choose an overseas teaching life, their reasons for staying overseas and what it means to come back to Canada.

Marcea Ingersoll is an assistant professor at St. Thomas University. A Maritimer by birth and a global nomad by nature, she has taught in Canadian, British and American curriculum schools on three continents. She received her PhD from Queen’s University and was a SSHRC postdoctoral fellow at McGill University. Her research interests are situated at the crossroads of narrative, teacher education and new literacies.
