Individuals and organizations from across the province were honoured recently for their crime prevention efforts at the annual luncheon of the Crime Prevention Association of New Brunswick and the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety.

Our very own Dr. Mary Ann Campbell was presented with a certificate of recognition for her work as a member of the New Brunswick Department of Public Safety’s Roundtable on Crime and Public Safety.

The Roundtable was recognized for the proactive work they have done, and continue to do, in the area of crime prevention and public safety. The group brings together decision makers to collaborate on the planning and implementation of improvements to New Brunswick crime prevention policy and practice through the development and implementation of the New Brunswick Crime Prevention and Reduction Strategy.

Collaboration is a critical component of the success of the Roundtable with 50 organizations including UNB’s Centre for Criminal Justice Studies, Centre de Bénévolat de la Péninsule Acadienne, New Brunswick Association of Chiefs of Police, John Howard Society, Partners for Youth, Public Safety Canada and several provincial departments.

This is the second time Dr. Campbell has received such an award, having been presented with the first one in 2014. This year is also the 20th anniversary of UNB’s Centre for Criminal Justice Studies.
