Two of our Saint John faculty received awards for excellence in teaching and educational leadership from the Association of Atlantic Universities (AAU).
Dr. Emin Civi, Faculty of Business, has received the 2015 AAU Distinguished Teaching Award recognizing outstanding teaching over a number of years.
“Emin has a reputation as an educator with challenging standards and as a mentor who cares deeply for his students,” says Dr. Robert MacKinnon, vice-president of UNB Saint John.
Dr. Dale Roach, Faculty of Science, Applied Science and Engineering’s Department of Engineering, has received the 2015 AAU Anne Marie MacKinnon Educational Leadership Award for a demonstrated commitment to the improvement of university teaching.
“Dale's enthusiastic approach is contagious to everyone he works with,” says MacKinnon. “He has proven himself as an effective leader from whom all of us can learn.”
“We are very pleased for Dale and Emin as they are both extremely deserving of these awards,” said MacKinnon.
AAU member universities propose nominees for these awards and the AAU’s Coordinating Committee on Faculty Development selects recipients.
The AAU represents the 16 universities in Atlantic Canada, and serves as an advocate for the important role Atlantic universities play in preparing future leaders of our communities, in path-breaking research and innovation, and in contributing to the economic prosperity and quality of life of the Atlantic region.
