The community garden at UNB Saint John, located beside the Canada Games Stadium, will open tomorrow.
The garden, which sprang to life in the spring of 2014, has grown to 31 full-sized plots - including three raised beds for persons with reduced mobility - and eight half-plots.
“Annual plants of any sort are welcome,” said Sean Haughian, UNB Saint John community garden chair. “In addition to the garden plots for growing our own vegetables, the garden has fruit trees (apple) and shrubs (elderberry, currant, blackberry, raspberry, and grape) for communal enjoyment, and a picnic area.”
If you are interested in growing your own plants the UNB Saint John Community Garden Committee will assign garden beds as registrations are received on a “first come first served” basis, with priority given to students.
