Some of the best university and college basketball teams in Atlantic Canada will be coming to UNB Saint John to compete for the ACAA championships March 6-8, 2015.

The Holland College Hurricanes men’s team is ranked first in Canada and the Holland College women are ranked fifth, so local youth, parents and community basketball enthusiasts will see top-quality teams throughout the weekend.

For the past few years, the ACAA has sent teams to the CCAA National Championships with hopes of bringing back a national title to the Atlantic region. Although St. Thomas University, Mount St. Vincent University, and Holland College have come close on both the men’s and women’s sides earning bronze and silver medals, the illustrious CCAA Championship banner has yet to come back East. With Holland College men being ranked first nationally, the emerging ACAA men’s and women’s champions will have a legitimate shot at competing for a CCAA National Championship.

“The ACAA men's and women's basketball championship weekend is the premier event in the ACAA,” says David Munro, director of athletics, recreation and wellness at UNB Saint John.  “The top teams are highly competitive and will be giving everything they have to take the championship banner back to their own institution.”

The participating teams and seeding will be decided the first week in March immediately after the final ACAA regular season games. The games are open to the public. Tickets are now available for purchase at the UNB Saint John athletics department and will also be available at the door on game days.
