The University of New Brunswick is hosting a consultation session with several Canadian student leaders on strengthening financial literacy for young Canadians and adults.
Taking place Thursday, Nov. 20, 2014, at UNB Fredericton’s Wu Conference Centre, this final phase of the consultations focuses on children, youth and adults, to gain insight on how they could benefit from strengthening their financial literacy.
Shelley Clayton, director of UNB’s Financial Aid office, was hand-picked among 14 other Canadians to serve on a National Steering Committee on Financial Literacy set up by Minister of State (Finance) Kevin Sorenson and Financial Literacy Leader Jane Rooney.
The 15 members selected from more than 100 applicants represent a broad range of public, private and non-profit organizations from across Canada. Among the members are financial education leaders with experience in working with priority groups such as seniors, Aboriginal Canadians, newcomers, youth and low-income Canadians.
Jane Rooney and Shelley Clayton will be available to speak with media following the consultation session at 12:15 p.m. at the Wu Conference Centre, Room 208.
Members of the media who wish to attend the media availability are required to confirm their attendance by email at Natasha.Nystrom@fcac-acfc.gc.ca.
