Lisa Armstrong will address the Class of 2014 as Valedictorian at UNB Saint John’s 40th spring convocation ceremony. She is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree, with a major in Information and Communications Studies and a minor in Linguistics and Philosophy.
A mature student and a lifelong Saint Johner, Lisa is the embodiment of the truly transformational opportunities our university offers, and that a university degree is possible no matter the time in life.
While at UNB Saint John, Lisa has been a dean’s list student each year, balanced her studies and extracurricular commitments with a job outside of university, taken care of her family, all while maintaining a 4.2 cumulative grade point average. “It has been a great challenge, yet extremely rewarding” says Armstrong.
Lisa is off to Carleton University in the fall to pursue a Master of Arts in Applied Linguistics and Discourse Studies. She has been awarded a Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) scholarship, a Canada Graduate Scholarship, in support of her studies.
