A new province-wide initiative was launched at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton today. "NB Exporter U" brings together academia, government and business for a common goal - expanding markets abroad for New Brunswick businesses and their products.
Academic teams from UNB and l’Universite de Moncton will work with selected companies and provincial and federal government departments towards developing customized strategies and action plans for increasing the companies’ export growth. 22 companies from across the province competed for one of ten spots in the program.
At UNB, the NB Export U program will led by the faculty of business administration’s International Business and Entrepreneurship Centre (IBEC). Students will develop a theoretical foundation through the course-work component of the program in the first-term, followed by the practical hand-on skills developed through working alongside business leaders in the second term.
The NB Exporter U program is sponsored and supported by the New Brunswick department of Economic Development and the government of Canada’s Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) Learn Sphere program.
“To a large extent, the jobs, opportunities, and wealth of tomorrow will be created by private entrepreneurs willing to test their ideas in a crowded and competitive marketplace,” says Dr. Campbell. “At UNB, we want our students to not only be prepared for this new reality - we want them to lead it.”
