Dr Nicholas Tracy wins book award

Dr. Nicholas Tracy's book, A Two-Edged Sword: The Navy as an Instrument of Canadian Foreign Policy (McGill-Queens UP, 2012), has won this year's John Lyman Book Award in Canadian naval and maritime history.
Dr. Tracy is an adjunct professor in UNB's department of history and an associate at the Gregg Centre for the Study of War and Society; he is also a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies. His life-long research has focused on the strategic significance of naval forces in international relations, with particular attention to questions of economic warfare and economic sanctions.
The John Lyman Book Award is awarded annually by the North American Society for Oceanic History (NASOH) to authors who contribute significantly to the understanding of the maritime and naval history of North America. The award is named in honor of John Lyman (1921-1977), oceanographer, maritime historian, and a founder of NASOH.
