Dec. 6 has been the National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women since the murder of 14 women at L'Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on this day in 1989.
Every year Canadians take time not only to remember the women who died on this day because of their gender but also to rededicate ourselves to the end of violence against women.
Campuses across the country hold memorial services to commemorate the event. Here at UNB Fredericton we will be having a memorial service of our own. It will take place today from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the SUB ballroom. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend. Purple and white ribbons will be handed out and refreshments will be served.
