Bluefield student wins 50 000 scholarship

When Megan Smith heads off to university this fall she'll have 50,000 reasons to be happy.
That's because she's heading to the University of New Brunswick with a scholarship worth $50,000 over four years.
Smith, who graduates from Bluefield High School this year, said when she heard the news it brought her to tears.
"It's a huge weight off your shoulders to hear something like that," she said.
The Currie Scholarships are named in honour of UNB's chancellor Richard J. Currie who is one of the school's major donors and established the scholarships.
