The University of New Brunswick’s Dance Team, a Varsity Reds club sport, will host the first Atlantic Collegiate Dance Competition for university-level dance teams and clubs from Atlantic Canada on Sunday, February 5, at 10 a.m., in the Lady Beaverbrook Gymnasium.

Matt Marr, UNB dance alumnus and So You Think You Can Dance Canada second runner-up, will provide a choreography workshop beginning at 2 p.m. He is also adjudicating the competition alongside Sarah Clarke-Rowinski and Stephanie Grace.

“Although the Atlantic provinces are full of talent at the collegiate level, there are few opportunities for groups and individuals toshare in their art and enrich the greater dance community, “ said Ashley Thompson, UNB Dance Team President. “It’s for this reason that we decided to found and host the first ever Atlantic Collegiate Dance Competition.”

The event begins in the morning with competitions between Atlantic University teams.  The public is invited to cheer on their favourite dancers. Admission is $5 and payable at the door.  All advanced dancers are invited to participate in the workshop. Registration is still open, and the $75 fee for the three-hour session will be accepted at the door.
