A new partnership between the University of New Brunswick Saint John and the provincial project management association will provide students and working professionals with new opportunities. Dr. Henryk Sterniczuk, director of the MBA program at UNB Saint John and Warren Long, P. Eng, PMP, president of the PMI-NB chapter. The partnership between UNB Saint John and the Project Management Institute – New Brunswick chapter (PMI-NB) - allows Masters of Business Administration (MBA) students at UNBSJ to participate in activities that will help them achieve project management credentials such as Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)®, Project Management Professional (PMP)®, and Program Management Professional (PgMP)®. The partnership will also benefit working professionals by providing them with additional course options through UNBSJ and professional development credits required to both obtain and maintain certification. “This is a win for our MBA students and it’s a win for those already in the workforce,” says Dr. Henryk Sterniczuk, director of the MBA program for the faculty of business on the Saint John campus. “Becoming an accredited project management professional will help our MBA students stand out even further against their counterparts and will provide them with additional tools to be successful in the workplace.” UNBSJ and PMI-NB signed a Memorandum of Agreement on August 11 outlining the new partnership. "The expanding relationship with the university is a key part of our strategy in providing value for our members, the project management profession and business community" says Warren Long, P. Eng, PMP, president of the PMI-NB chapter. "We believe it's our role to work with and help facilitate quality training for project managers. UNBSJ has also recognized this commitment to their students by entering into this new partnership with PMI-NB." PMI was the first organization to offer a credential specifically for project managers, and their certification program remains the global standard. PMI-NB serves the professional, business and educational communities of New Brunswick through the advancement and improvement of project management. “We’re so pleased to have this relationship with PMI-NB,” says Dr. Regena Farnsworth, dean of the Faculty of Business on the Saint John campus.  “It will benefit students, employers and the local community. It’s a great example of how our university is helping to build a better New Brunswick.”
