SAINT JOHN - When students return to the University of New Brunswick Saint John this week, they're going to see a very different campus, vice-president Robert MacKinnon said.
Renovations are finished at the Canada Games Stadium, the New Brunswick Community College Allied Health Building opened Thursday and the Hans W. Klohn Commons building opens Wednesday.
The new buildings are helping lay the foundation of the campus as a destination in the city, province and around the world, MacKinnon said.
"This has really been the major phase of growth and I think, overall, it's really enhancing the look and the feel and the functionality of the campus," he said.
"I think it's really making it a better place for students and for members of the community to come and use our facilities."
MacKinnon envisions the Commons building as a signature piece on the campus, an open learning space where people can work and socialize together.
"It's really an exciting facility," he said. "It's going to be the kind of building that not only will be really useful for students, but I think it's also going to be the kind of building that people will want to come out and take a look at."
