Is your pre-teen or teen bored with regular summer camp?
The University of New Brunswick is offering its first financial summer camp for budding young business tycoons called The Millionaires' Club running from July 25-29.
"We've created an investment camp for kids age 11 to 14 and 15 to 18," said Glenn Cleland, the founding director of the Centre for Financial Studies at UNB.
"Financial literacy is a big thing out there right now.
"Household debt to disposable income is at record highs."
At the same time, many governments are saying don't depend on the government for your financial security and you better educate your children about financial matters, said Cleland.
"That is what the intent of the program is," he said.
Cleland said UNB did some research into financial camps for young people, including a program developed by Merrill Lynch and Sesame Street, and came up with 15 modules to start them early on the road to financial success.
"It teaches financial literacy skills," he said.
