Please join us for the UNB Reading Series on Tuesday, Feb. 8, at 8 p.m. in Memorial Hall’s East Gallery, featuring:
M. Travis Lane
Her poetry is included in Coastlines: The Poetry of Atlantic Canada. She is winner of the Pat Lowther Award for Divinations and Shorter Poems, as well as winner of the Atlantic Poetry Prize for the collection, Keeping Afloat. She will be joining us to read from her latest book of poetry, The All Nighter’s Radio.
A superb literary critic, M. Travis Lane was awarded a PhD from Cornell University with a dissertation on Robert Frost. She is an Honorary Research Associate of the Department of English at the University of New Brunswick and reviews contemporary poetry extensively for The Fiddlehead.
George Sipos
He has just been shortlisted for the $25,000.00 Charles Taylor Prize for Non-Fiction for his book, The Geography of Arrival: A Memoir. He is author of Anything but the Moon, which was shortlisted for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize in 2006. He will be joining us to read from his newest collection of poetry, The Glassblowers.
The Globe & Mail says of his poetry in The Glassblowers that "His discerning attunement to 'the quirks of the ear and of the mind' results in a technical brilliance, a stunning and affecting control of diction, syntax and tone that immediately engages the reader's intellect as well as emotion."
The readings are free and open to the public.
