The Fiddlehead has won a National Magazine Award for the publication of Stephen Heighton’s story, Shared Room on Union.
The literary journal also received two honourable mentions for fiction for Back to Disney by Jeff Park and The Spanish Hour by J. M. Villaverde; and two honorable mentions for UNB's Anne Compton’s poems, Stepping Off, It starts with names, and We waited; and Vanessa Moeller’s poetry sequence, Abandoned Postcards Found in Hotel Room 464.
First published in 1945, The Fiddlehead is known as a who’s who in Canadian literature. Many - now well-known - writers have found their first home in its pages. They, as well as some of its editors and assistants, have gone on to win awards and prizes across the country.
The Fiddlehead is published four times a year at the University of New Brunswick. It is celebrating its 65th anniversary.
