Representatives of the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers (AUNBT) and the University of New Brunswick continue to negotiate for an eleventh collective agreement for UNB's approximately 600 full-time teachers, researchers and librarians.

On Jan. 11, 2010, the Minister of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour appointed a conciliator, at the request of both the AUNBT and UNB, to help the parties conclude negotiations. While some progress was made in conciliation, the process concluded on Feb. 2, 2010 without an agreement being reached.

AUNBT and UNB are now considering other mechanisms to reach a new collective agreement.

Both parties share the goal of supporting the communities around us and of making UNB a better place to study and work.

While negotiations continue, the previous collective agreement, for the period July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2009, remains in effect.

AUNBT and UNB have agreed that all communication with the media regarding negotiations will be by way of joint statements at this time.
