Representatives of the Association of University of New Brunswick Teachers and the University of New Brunswick have been negotiating since June 2009 for an eleventh collective agreement for UNB's approximately 600 full-time teachers, researchers and librarians.

The previous collective agreement, which was for the period July 1, 2005 to June 30, 2009, remains in effect.

AUNBT and UNB share the goal of supporting the communities around us and of making UNB a better place to study and work.

Negotiators have reached agreement on many issues, with several items still outstanding. In order to assist the parties to successfully conclude negotiations, UNB and AUNBT have applied jointly to the Minister of the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour of the Province of New Brunswick for the appointment of a conciliator. The application was made on January 8.

Both parties have agreed that any contact with the media will be by way of joint statements while negotiations are ongoing.
