The University of New Brunswick Saint John now has a robot that cleans its floors—increasing efficiency of cleaning services across the campus.

UNB’s cleaning contractor SBC Facility Services obtained the new automated machine, the Taski Intellibot 2000 auto scrubber, earlier this semester. This machine is the first of its kind to be used in an educational institution in Atlantic Canada.

Representatives from SBC say the robotic scrubber is able to navigate safely by itself and uses less water than traditional scrubbers, while maintaining the same quality of cleaning.

“We are very excited with the addition of the robot auto scrubber at UNBSJ,” says Kevin Simpson, director of facilities management, UNB Saint John. “The technology within the machine is impressive as it navigates the hallways while ensuring our floors are left clean, with little water residue left behind.”
