UNBSJ Research Colloquium in Economics and Human Research Management

UNB Saint John will be holding a research colloquium in the areas of economics and human resource management on Friday, Nov. 15 at 10:45 a.m. in the Hans W. Klohn Commons, room G16.

Session 1:  10:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.
Dr. Barry Watson, associate professor of economics, will present Mind the Gap: A Decomposition of Earnings & Vulnerability among Indigenous and Non-Indigenous Canadians.  He will examine the disparities in well-being, the annual earnings gap and the job security gap between Indigenous adults in Canada and their non-Indigenous counterparts.  Dr. Watson argues that policy needs to look beyond conventional metrics such as income gaps to fully address the economic inequality.

Session 2: 11:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
Dr. Morrie Mendelson, associate professor of human resource management, will discuss The Role of CSR Expectation Violations on Employee Retention.  He will explore how corporate social responsibility (CSR) is associated with superior financial performance that helps to attract prospective employees and researches the impact of misleading CSR disclosures have on employee retention.
The colloquium is open to the public and all are welcome to attend. Informal discussions will immediately follow the presentations.
