There have been a number of new and exciting changes to Student Services at UNB Saint John. Staff and students should be made aware of all the new changes when seeking the support of the department.

In March, 2019, we welcomed a new Mental Health Counsellor, Catherine Paulin to the department. Catherine has been a great addition to the team. Having two counsellors in student services has reduced wait times significantly.

We also gained a new role to the department in March 2019, which has been the Student Mental Health and Wellness Coordinator. We are pleased to have Athena Grillakis with us in this new role. We are continually refining and adjusting this role to ensure a focus on assisting students through a case management model. If you already know where to go for support, that is great! If you don't, Athena can help explore the support you require and navigate you through student services. This role is proving valuable and helping prevent students falling through the gaps.

We welcome Dave Decker into the student services team as the Manager, Student Success. This role will incorporate the vision of Student Services by supporting student success initiatives and focusing on continuing enrollment, strategic enrollment management, academic support, and student financial support. This position will also manage the new position of Student Success Advisor. We congratulate Dave and welcome him to the team!

On September 16th, we will welcome Jason LeBlanc into the newly established role of Student Success Advisor. Jason joins us from Concordia University where he worked in the Birks Student Service Centre as Programs Assistant and Student Services, and Student Accounts Analyst and Coordinator since 2010. Jason's role will replace the Academic Coach role we had previously. We look forward to welcoming Jason to the team.

Some other noteworthy changes are that the Student Accessibility Centre is now managed by the Student Accessibility Counsellor, Ken Craft. We also congratulate and welcome Rebecca Caissie into the permanent role of Student Accessibility Coordinator and look forward to the continued service to students with learning exceptionalities.
