UNB Fredericton will host a public lecture, featuring Dr. Nasir Memon, vice dean for academics and student affairs at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering, a professor in its department of computer science and engineering and the founder of its cybersecurity program—one of the first in the United States. This lecture, which is free and open to the public, will take place on Thursday, Sept. 26 at 7 p.m. in Bailey Hall, 146.

The title of Dr. Memon’s lecture will be, “Seeing is Believing: Media Integrity in a Post Truth World.” In this talk, Dr. Memon examines ‘fake news’ and the renewed interest in digital media forensics. He will broadly discuss how media is generated and describe various approaches that are being developed in order to return to integrity and trust in digital media.

This event, which is organized by the North American Society for Intelligence History, The Canadian Institute for Cyber Security, UNB Law School and the Gregg Centre for War and Society, is the first in a series of four lectures. Funding is provided by the US Consulate General in Halifax and UNB.
