The Department of Culture and Media Studies, in collaboration with the Consulate General of Japan in Montreal, is hosting the screening of two Japanese films on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6:30 p.m. in Tilley Hall, 102. The first film is "Thermae Romae" at 6:30 pm, and the second film is "Japanese Girls Never Die" at 8:30 pm. Both films are the original Japanese version with English subtitles. Admission is free.

"Thermal Romae" - adapted from an award-winning manga, this hilarious comedy starring the equally hilarious Hiroshi Abe tells the tale of Roman Empire spa bath architect Lucious who inadvertently time travels to modern Japan. Inspired by what he discovers there, he decided to import elements of Japanese culture into Ancient Rome, where he is instantaneously met with great success.

"Japanese Girls Never Die" - Haruko Azumi disappears overnight. Posters and graffiti art bearing the image of the missing Haruko appearing across town have people wondering and speculating about her fate. This unapologetic dramatic comedy thrown relief a modern Japanese society suffused with gender, power and hietrarchy issues.
