Please mark your calendars for the first talk of our Fall 2019 Feminist Lunch Series in UNBF's Faculty of Arts to be given on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 12:30 p.m. in Tilley Hall, 28 featuring Pamela Malins (Education, UNBF).

The talk is titled: “‘Gender & Sexuality in Canadian Kindergarten Curricula.”

Intended curriculum provides many educators with a pedagogical foundation, so whose values and identities are represented in these documents? In a critical discourse analysis of all Canadian kindergarten curricula, this study explored the extent to which these documents address gender and sexual identities, thereby informing teachers and children’s identity options.

Dr. Pamela Malins is new faculty member in Early Childhood Education at UNB Fredericton. Having received her PhD from Western University in 2017, Dr. Malins’s research program explores the intersections of curriculum, literacy, and gender and sexual identities. Among Dr. Malins’s recent publications, the article “These 8 LGBTQ-positive books impart lessons about diversity and acceptance” was published by the World Economic Forum/The Conversation.

All are welcome...please bring your lunch!
