UNB Human Resources & Organizational Development and the Union of Graduate Student Workers (representing graduate student employees working as graduate student research assistants (GSRAs) and teaching assistants (GSTAs)) are hosting a Joint Workshop to discuss the UGSW Collective Agreement and the various requirements and obligations of Faculty members, Directors of Graduate Studies and Graduate Secretaries.

This session builds on previous sessions for Directors of Graduate Studies and Graduate Secretaries and is open to all to attend (Faculty or Staff) involved with hiring Graduate Students to be GSTAs or GSRAs).  Attendees find these sessions useful as a way to learn about important updates and to ask questions and obtain clarification around the roles, responsibilities and key steps involved in hiring and paying of graduate students as employees (GSRA or GSTA positions).

Even if you’ve attended in the past, it’s strongly encouraged to attend again.  Updated information is provided and new questions asked and answered.

Two sessions will be offered simulcast to Fredericton and Saint John as follows:

Fredericton Session (simulcast to Saint John campus)

Thursday, Aug. 15, 2019

1:30 – 3:30 p.m. – Tilley Hall 302/Oland Hall 203

Saint John Session (simulcast to Fredericton campus)

Monday, Aug. 19, 2019

10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Oland Hall 203/Tilley Hall 302

We strongly encourage faculty members who hire graduate students to work as GSRAs or GSTAs to try to attend at least one session.

Pre-registration is not mandatory but would be helpful for planning purposes.  Kindly send an e-mail to erin.fyfe@unb.ca indicating your name, department/faculty, and which date you plan to attend.  For further information phone Erin Fyfe at 458-7675.

Thank you,

UNB-HR and UGSW Executive
