Development of Kinetic and Kinematic Multisegment Foot Models for Gait Analysis - We are examining kinematics, kinetics, muscle activity and structure of the foot in order to better understand how the foot functions under both weight bearing and non-weight bearing conditions.

Who - We are recruiting healthy adults aged 65+ to participate in our study.

Where - The Andrew and Marjorie McCain Human Performance Lab at the University of New Brunswick in Fredericton. (second floor at the RJCC).

Study Description

Participants will be asked to perform walking and standing trials at different speeds while wearing reflective markers adhered to the skin using double sided tape. These markers will be tracked using 12 Vicon infrared motion capture cameras. Electromyography (EMG) will be collected using surface electrodes adhered to the skin. 3D models of the foot will also be collected using a white-light body scanner.

If you would like to take part in this study, or would like further information please contact Nayeli Marcial at or call 506-429-3150.

This project is on file with the UNB Research Ethics Board as REB#2014-049.
