The NotaBle Acts Theatre Company, in cooperation with Theatre UNB, will stage its 18th annual Summer Theatre Festival, showcasing 16 new plays by emerging and established New Brunswick playwrights, from July 23-August 3 at venues across Fredericton, including UNB's Memorial Hall.

Festival highlights include two professional mainstage productions, Fruit Machine, a play about the gay purge in the R.C.M.P. and Canadian military by Solo Chicken’s the Coop, and Overlap, a play about Acadian youths' complex feelings about the city of Moncton performed in French (with English surtitles) by Moncton’s Satellite Theatre.

The festival also features 13 plays that were selected as winners in NotaBle Acts’s annual province-wide playwriting contest, including With Love, Josephine by Sophie Tremblay-Pitre and Gullywhump by Greg Everett, winners of the competition’s one act category, along with free outdoor 10-minute and site-specific plays and readings of new works in development.
