The President's Executive Team (PET) recently approved revisions to the Travel Policy which are effective immediately.

Financial Services tracks potential areas of concern in the wording of the policy based on discussions with employees, changes by external parties such as car rental agencies and airlines, and various scenarios presented over time. It has been several years since any changes were made to the policy and these recent changes should provide better clarity.

The majority of the revisions relate to clarification of airline travel, car rental agencies, payments to third-party Canadian residents and clarification on approving travel.

Along with policy wording revisions, PET also reviewed the across-Canada comprehensive analysis undertaken by Financial Services on travel rates such as meals, kilometric, personal accommodation and incidental rates. Adjustments within Appendix A of the Policy are:

  • US Meal Rate has increased
  • Private Accommodation has increased
  • Incidentals are now set at $5 for each overnight.

The Travel Policy has been updated on the Central Policy repository page of UNB’s web site.  As well, a document with the complete list of all policy changes is also on the Financial Services web site titled Travel Policy Revisions which can be found in the yellow highlighted area marked “Important."
