Please join me in offering condolences to family and friends of retired faculty member Dr. Sharon Anne Myers (EdD ’95), who passed away on March 30 in Montague, PE. She was 61.

Sharon completed her EdD at Harvard’s Graduate School of Education in 1995. In 1997, colleagues from the Canadian Association for Educational Psychology awarded her with the top Canadian Doctoral Thesis award.

Sharon was a professor in the faculty of education on UNB’s Fredericton campus from 1996 until she retired in 2015. Prior to her tenure at UNB, she worked as a school teacher, school counsellor and psychologist on PEI.  Sharon always loved teaching.

Not only was Sharon highly-regarded as a well-respected teacher, clinician and psychologist, she was also known as an exceptional listener who deeply touched the lives of many. Sharon had a passion for creating an environment where classmates and colleagues could connect through her memorable ‘kitchen parties’, where fine food and live music were bountiful.

A memorial service was held on April 4. Condolences can be made online.

Sharon will be deeply missed.
