Siyabulela Mandela to visit UNB

UNB is excited to announce it will host a community conversation, on both campuses, with Mr. Siyabulela Mandela. 

Mr. Mandela is an internationally acclaimed academic and carries on his grandfather’s legacy as a renowned activist and freedom fighter.   He is currently a PhD candidate (International Relations and Conflict Resolution) and lecturer in the department of politics and conflict studies at Nelson Mandela University in South Africa. 

The UNB Saint John event will be held Monday, April 1 at 9:30 a.m. in Oland Hall, 104.   The panel discussion will focus on peace, social justice and conflict resolution.   Mr. Mandela will be joined by three esteemed UNBSJ panelists to discuss his research and PhD dissertation Preventive Diplomacy and Conflict Prevention in Africa: Examining South Africa's Role in Conflict Resolution in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The UNB Fredericton event will take place on Tuesday, April 2 at 4:30 p.m. in the Wu Centre auditorium.  The discussion will focus on reconciliation and social justice.   Mr. Mandela will be joined by Piluwitahasuwin Amanda Reid Rogers with Dr. Dhirenda Shukla as the moderator. 

These unique opportunities are being offered to the UNB community free of charge and will be closed to the media and the general public.
