Over the course of the last five years, UNBF’s Central Heating Plant has seen significant renewal including boilers, controls, emergency generator, and several other plant auxiliary systems. For those that may not know, the UNB CHP produces over 300 million pounds of steam annually for heating and process use not only for UNBF, but also for STU, the DECRH, RPC and Provincial Archives.  Typically over 40 per cent of this steam is produced by burning renewable waste wood as fuel.  The plant is staffed 24/7, 364 days a year shutting down only 24 hours annually for necessary maintenance.

The final touches have been put in place and our team is excited to show off the improvements.  Those interested, within the greater UNBF community, are invited to come to the front entrance of the plant (the glass doors facing College Hill Rd.) on Thursday, Nov. 8, between 1 - 3 p.m.,  where staff will be on hand to provide tours and answer questions about the operation.
