Theatre UNB’s first production of the 2018-19 season features a pair of renowned one-act plays inspired by existentialist philosophy and the Theatre of the Absurd.

In Tom Stoppard’s metatheatrical comedy The Real Inspector Hound, a pair of theatre critics watching a formulaic Agatha Christie-style murder mystery are drawn on stage into the play, with results that are both deadly and hilarious. In Jean-Paul Sartre’s No Exit, three strangers locked in a seemingly innocuous room in hell learn the fiendishly dark truth of what their eternal torture will be.

Directed by Len Falkenstein, The Real Inspector Hound and No Exit will be performed as a twin-bill with three performances, Thursday, November 29 through Saturday, December 1, 7:30 p.m. nightly, at Memorial Hall. Tickets ($12 regular, $10 for seniors and the underemployed, and $8 for students) will be available at the door. For more information, email, phone 506 447-3078, or visit
