Mourning the passing of staff member Barbie Doucette-FR and SJ

Dear members of the UNB community,

It is with great sadness that I share news of the passing of staff member Barbie Doucette, on Nov. 11 at the age of 36. Please join me in offering condolences to Barbie’s family, friends and colleagues.

Barbie was an accommodations facilitator in the Student Accessibility Centre at UNB Fredericton. Barbie was on leave from UNB, having recently given birth to her third child. A gentle, compassionate, caring individual, Barbie was committed to ensuring students had a positive experience at university.

Support services are available for those affected by Barbie’s passing. Faculty and staff can access counselling services by calling 1-844-880-9142. Counselling services are available for students by calling 453-4820 in Fredericton or 648-2309 in Saint John.

A memorial service will be held at Hopecity, 429 Clements Dr., Fredericton, at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16. Condolences can be made online. Flags will be lowered on both campuses on Friday. 

Barbie will be deeply missed.
