A UNB Physics Department Seminar will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 16, from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m., in the IUC Physics/Admin Bldg, 204.

Pervez Hoodbhoy, Forman Christian College, Lahore, Pakistan, will present, "What Can Physics in 5 Dimensions Teach Us About Strong Interactions?"

“Twenty years ago, Juan Maldacena demonstrated the equivalence of string theory in 10-dimensions with a certain quantum field theory in 4-D. Since then physicists have made progress towards understanding some non-perturbative aspects of QCD but other aspects remain a challenge. In this talk I shall give an overview of the successes and failures of the so-called ADS/CFT approach, and suggest a possible way of dealing with the problem of hadronic polarizabilities.”

Please join us for Colloquium tea in P203 beforehand.
