Students and colleagues, I would like to remind you that beginning October 17, adult-use cannabis will be legally available for consumers age 19 and older across Canada.

When considering the legalization of cannabis and how it will affect our campuses, UNB’s Cannabis Working Group has taken a responsible approach that respects and adheres to the legislation while focusing on harm reduction and education. Both our Fredericton and Saint John campuses will comply with the New Brunswick Cannabis Control Act-Bill 16.

To prepare and educate students at UNB, posters, tent cards and social and digital initiatives about safe adult-use cannabis have been distributed across both campuses. Materials inform students of the laws, risks, rules and regulations around adult-use cannabis, including:

Legal age
The use of cannabis on campus
Health risks
Cultivation

Additional information can be found on our website. Should anyone have further questions, please feel free to contact Laurelle LeVert  at Laurelle.Levert@unb.ca. UNB remains committed to the health and well-being of its students, staff and faculty.
