The Ally & Safe Space Program for Indigenous and First Nations Peoples is an innovative project at UNB Saint John, intended to develop a campus community that affirms, welcomes and supports Indigenous peoples.

The goal of this voluntary program is to provide students, staff and faculty members of the UNB Saint John community with an understanding of the impact of colonialization on Indigenous peoples. Through raising awareness, and establishing a cadre of allies, we envision that the campus will become a more inclusive environment and safe space for all Indigenous peoples.

The program will consist of two levels of training, each approximately 3 – 3 ½ hours duration, and participants will receive a certificate of completion after attending both sessions.

Pilot sessions are scheduled for November and December, with formal full training sessions beginning Winter 2019.
