UNBF's Physics department seminar on Thursday, Sept. 27, from 1:15 - 2:15 p.m., in the Physics Admin room 204, will feature Ming-Guang Hu, Harvard University's Physics Department, presenting "Ultracold Molecular Physics and Chemistry."

“Creations of ultracold polar molecules offer many exciting opportunities. On the one hand, we aim to gain exact quantum understanding of chemical reactions involving four atoms; on the other hand, we aim to harness rich internal states and controllable long-range interactions of molecules for quantum simulations and quantum information processing. I will present our current efforts in the Ni lab at Harvard. To achieve quantum-state resolved detection of ultracold chemical reactions, we incorporated velocity-map imaging ion detection within a K-Rb quantum gas apparatus. To realize polar-molecule-based quantum simulators, we build single molecules from cesium and sodium atoms in optical tweezers.”

Please join us for a Colloquium tea in P203 beforehand.
