The UNB English Language Programme offers a variety of formats to students whose first language is not English.  The following formats are available to students of all proficiency levels, beginner to advanced:

The Intensive English Term Format (September 6 – December 7, 2018) is academic in nature and is an excellent choice for students who wish to upgrade their English for university study.  Full-time language studies incorporate class hours, homework, tutorials and advising 35+ hours each week.

Academic English as a Second Language evening courses provide ongoing language support to full-time undergraduate and graduate students.  These credit courses are designed to provide continued language enhancement for students whose first language is not English.  Undergraduate courses (AESL 1011, AESL 2011), graduate courses (AESL 6021) and non-credit offerings (CELP 1001, CELP 1003) are available.  All classes are held in the evening in one three-hour block per week.  Classes begin on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2018.

The Program of Academic English Preparation (PAEP) is an excellent pathway to academic success for international and permanent resident students who have been conditionally accepted to an undergraduate degree program.  This academic bridging program will increase English proficiency and prepare students for successful completion of undergraduate studies.  Students are immersed in the English language for 35+ hours per week, which includes academic advising.  Students enrolled in PAEP are considered full-time UNB students and have access to all support services and residence accommodations.  Students are eligible to receive academic credits from select faculties.  Course dates are September 6 – December 7, 2018.

In the Tutorial Format, individualized sessions are available to those who wish to incorporate personal and/or professional interests into the curriculum design.  Scheduling of the 50-minute sessions is flexible.

Our Daytime Personalized Format offers one-on-one 50-minute Tutorial Sessions, as well as English Language Classes for 10, 15, 25 or 35 hours per week for one, two or three weeks at a time.
