Please join me in offering condolences to the family and friends of retired staff member Stanley (Stan) Bowser, who passed away on Aug. 7. He was 76.

Stan earned his bachelor of arts from UNB in 1968 then continued his education at Moncton Technical College, where he studied to become an electronics technologist. Following his graduation, Stan taught for several years in Sackville, Elgin and Havelock, NB. He returned to UNB in 1973 as an electronic technologist in the Electrical Engineering Technician Shop and retired in March of 2007.

Coworkers were frequently entertained by stories of Stan’s youth. He was well-known for his kindness, wit and dry sense of humour. With his vast and near encyclopaedic knowledge across many subjects, Stan was at times referred to as a “human dictionary.”

With students, he was highly attentive and always willing to share his expertise; nearly every moment spent with Stan was a learning opportunity. He will be deeply missed.

Sincerely,

Eddy Campbell

President and Vice-Chancellor
