Please join me in offering condolences to family and friends of retired faculty member Hugh Flemming, who passed away on September 5, in Saint John. He was 93.

Hugh was a WWII Royal Canadian Navy veteran, discharged in the summer of 1945. He had a love for learning and studying, and received a forestry engineering degree after the war and worked in that field until he followed the call of his faith, and became ordained as a Presbyterian minister. He later became a professor of classics and ancient history at UNB Saint John before retiring.

A funeral service was held on September 8, in Saint John. Flags on both campuses were lowered to coincide with his funeral. ? Condolences can be made online.

Donations in Hugh's memory can be made to Gideons International.

Hugh will be deeply missed.

Sincerely,
Eddy Campbell
President and Vice-Chancellor
