The Institute of Biomedical Engineering is pleased to announce the next installment of BioTalks. The Institute’s own Dr. Nitin Seth will present “Themes in Rehabilitation Robotics for Recovery from Neurological Injury” on Thursday, Sept. 13 at 12 p.m. in the RN Scott Hall conference room.

Abstract: Traditionally, robots have been used in industrial applications to perform repetitive tasks with high precision and accuracy. Increasing demands for physiotherapy and occupational therapy, however, has led to the development of specially adapted robots to be used by individuals with neurological injuries such as stroke.  In this presentation, Dr. Nitin Seth will discuss the various themes, challenges, and findings in the early stages of the Rehabilitation Robotics field, as well as some directions for the future research.

BioTalks is open to all and will be held at 12 p.m. on the second Thursday of each month.  The event is affiliated with the IEEE NB Joint Chapters in Signal Processing and Engineering in Medicine and Biology.
