As part of UNB’s wireless (Wi-Fi) replacement project, GuestUNB WiFi is being replaced with a new guest Wi-Fi – public@unb – which will make it easier for visitors to connect to Wi-Fi while on campus.

UNB’s new guest wireless (public@unb):

  • Does not require a UNB sponsor or special login ID - visitors can connect automatically themselves.
  • Provides access to the internet only (not UNB network services such as printing and file shares).

When will public@unb be available?

  • Fredericton & Moncton Nursing public@unb is expected to be available early September 2018.
  • Saint John - public@unb is already available and can be used now.

When is GuestUNB WiFi going away?

GuestUNB WiFi is gradually becoming unavailable building by building as we upgrade the wireless equipment. See the upgrade schedule for specific dates and locations.

What is the difference between public@unb and eduroam, UNB’s new Wi-Fi for faculty, staff and students?

Eduroam is more secure and gives you full access to:

  • UNB network services (printing, file shares, etc.)
  • The internet (Google, youtube, etc.)
  • Wi-Fi at other eduroam institutions around the world

Public@unb only gives you access to the internet and cannot be used to access all UNB IT services.
