Reminder to submit feedback - Executive Director, College of Extended Learning -FR and SJ

Mr. Ian Allen’s term as Executive Director, College of Extended Learning (CEL) ends on May 11, 2018.  A review advisory committee has been formed as required in Senate regulations to recommend an appointment as soon as possible.  The Review Advisory Committee is comprised as follows:
George MacLean - Chair, Vice-President Academic
Luigi Benedicenti - Appointed by Deans Council
Marie Maltais - Appointed by and from the College of Extended Learning
Chris Hudson-Brading        
Norm Betts   - Appointed by Board of Governors
Christine Lovelace - Faculty member appointed by Senate
Mark Warren - Appointed by the Vice-President Academic          
TBD - Student appointed by ALPS
Ian Allen is eligible for reappointment and has expressed interest in serving for a further term.  The first responsibility of the Committee is to review the performance of the incumbent.  The purpose of this memorandum is to solicit your written opinion of:

·       Ian Allen’s performance as Executive Director, College of Extended Learning to date;

·       significant issues and challenges facing the College of Extended Learning over the next three to five years.

The mission of the College of Learning is to develop and deliver innovative, transformative programming for learners of all ages and all backgrounds.  Further information is available at

You may send your comments by email to  Your email address and signature lines will be removed before being viewed by the Review Advisory Committee.  If you would prefer to submit your comments by hard copy, you may put your unsigned submission in a plain envelope, enclose that envelope in another envelope with your name and signature on the back, and then drop it off or send it via campus mail to the Office of the Vice-President Academic in Sir Howard Douglas Hall, 105.  No anonymous submissions will be accepted.
Your comments will be provided in confidence to the members of the Review Advisory Committee to enable them to vet the accuracy of a summary to be prepared by the Committee Chair.  These comments will be provided to the incumbent prior to his advising the Committee whether he wishes to continue to be considered for reappointment.
Your comments should be submitted by Wednesday, April 4, 2018.
