The Monday Night Film Series presents 'Death of Stalin' on Monday, April 30 at 7:30pm in Tilley Hall, 102.

The internal political landscape of 1950’s Soviet Russia takes on a darkly comic form in a new film by Emmy award-winning and Oscar-nominated writer/director Armando Iannucci.

In the days following Stalin’s collapse, his core team of ministers tussle for control; some want positive change in the Soviet Union, others have more sinister motives. Their one common trait? They’re all just desperately trying to remain alive. The film that combines comedy, drama, pathos and political manoeuvering.

"There is one thing that power can't stand, and that is to be mocked: The social importance of this topical romp should not be underestimated." -Kate Taylor, Globe and Mail

This term, 15 limited release, independent foreign and Canadian films will be shown. Admission is $8/film, but a half-yearly $12 student film society membership reduces admission cost to $5/film. The series is open to all. Memberships are available at Tilley Hall, 102 every Monday night.
