Are you interested in finding out what it means to be a Marine Mapping Specialist? Do you want to know what technology is involved in mapping our oceans, or how the technology and data used to do that can help other scientists learn about the plants and animals that live in it?

UNB Geodesy and Geomatic's Engineering's very own Dr. Ian Church is featured in a virtual museum exhibit created by the Huntsman Marine Science Centre. Using immersive 3D models, 360°underwater videos, and engaging images and text, we can explore the underwater world of the Bay of Fundy and learn its structure, its ecosystems and the researchers that let us understand how it all works.

Whether you are just curious, or you want to know how the Geodesy and Geomatics Engineering program at UNB can prepare you for a career as a Marine Mapping Specialist.

Be sure to check out the Ocean STEAM course for high school students instructed by Dr. Ian Church and offered by the Huntsman Marine Science Centre this June. Students will have a chance to be Marine Mapping Specialists for a week and see firsthand how the data they collect can be used to understand our oceans.
