Meet UNB's talented music camp instructors

For almost three decades, UNB Music Camps have adapted and reshaped to fit the needs and interests of young musicians in the province.
This year, Band, String, and Soundscapes camps for youth aged 11 to 17 will be offered on the UNB Fredericton campus beginning in July.

Julian Smerdon, Band Camp Instructor
Julian has been teaching classroom instrumental music programs in schools since 1998. His bands and small ensembles regularly perform at the Kiwanis Music Festival and Music Fest in Toronto. Julian has organized and taken trips for Concert Band, Jazz Band and Choir to France, Austria, Czech Republic, Italy and several US cities.
Victor Vivas, String Camp Instructor
As an orchestral violinist, Victor has performed with orchestras in several countries. He has over ten years of teaching experience with the main El Sistema violin academy: Academia Latinoamericana de Violin. Many of Victor’s former students are currently professional musicians in Europe and South America.
Charles Harding, Soundscapes Camp Instructor
Charles has been a part of the New Brunswick DIY music scene for years, playing in a variety of projects like Property// and Cellar Ghost. He started a solo electronic music project in 2014 which has been given opportunities to perform in festivals all over eastern Canada. Charles is currently working on his degree in Electroacoustic Music at Concordia University.
