Happy New Year!
As we all know, the start of a new year is often a time of new beginnings, resolutions, and plans for starting new projects and activities. It’s also a time for saying goodbye to old habits and starting fresh.
"I love the new year!" says Lori Quick from the UNB Art Centre and a mother of two. "The idea of planning projects and activities for the whole year ahead is so exciting. It really is about a fresh slate and new possibilities. My family and I have already started a list!"
Every year, thousands of people make New Year's resolutions, hoping to spark positive change.
According to the website GoSkills, the 10 most common resolutions are:
- Exercise more
- Lose weight
- Get organized
- Live life to the fullest
- Save more money / spend less money
- Quit smoking
- Spend more time with family and friends
- Travel more
- Learn a new skill or hobby
Here are some recommendations to help you achieve your goals:
- Create a plan. Write it down.
- Break a larger resolution down into smaller, more manageable, goals.
- Ask a friend to set the same resolution and work toward it together.
- Think outside the box and come up with resolutions that are meaningful to you.
- Missed a goal? Be kind to yourself and keep trying.
