Due to social distancing restrictions, this year we have opted to support a local charity in lieu of a Christmas family. Grace House for Women is one of three shelters that fall under the Fredericton Homeless Shelters umbrella. Grace House is home to 10 women and provides a comforting, supportive, and safe environment that fosters and produces dignity and self-determination. Grace House is kept, run, and maintained by women for women.

To donate:

  • Make a donation online:
    • Complete the online form.
    • Please add “UNB College of Extended Learning” to the COMPANY NAME/GROUP field so Grace House can share the final tally with us. NOTE: All donations are private so we will not know how much individual people have donated, just a final number.
  • Donate items from the Christmas Wish List:
    • Drop off unwrapped items to Grace House (275 Brunswick Street) between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m.
    • You can include wrapping paper for them to use, if you wish.

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas at Grace House

‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, when all through Grace House
The residents were sleeping, even Gracie’s pet mouse.
The stockings were resting on each bed, desk, and chair,
With hopes they’d be filled by others who care.

For shelters had struggled with COVID this year,
Expenses were up -- the budgets were clear.
Support would be needed now more than before,
To serve those who seek warmth and a welcoming door.

At CEL the elves were apprised of the news.
To the workshop they went, there was no time to lose!
Plans were formed, stations were manned:
“It’s Christmas,” they said, “we’ll lend a hand.”

Financial donations are first on the list.
Then stuffing the stockings (so no one is missed).
With journals, gift sets, planners, backpacks,
Makeup, slippers, gift cards, or some snacks.

We look to you for your help, whether it big or it small.
So much can be done by one and by all!
Please join in the spirit of giving this year,
Thank you to all, we wish you good cheer.
